10:10 Campaign

10:10 is an ambitious project to trigger mass-engagement and unite every sector of a country behind one simple idea - that together we can achieve a 10% cut in the country's carbon emissions in 2010. This target is in line with what scientists say we need over the next 18 months.

Therefore we at Stafford FoE demand that Stafford Borough Council agree to join the 10:10 campaign and set targets to reduce CO2 emissions by 10% in 2010 and urge others to likewise.

The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen maybe the last chance to reach an effective global agreement on limiting dangerous climate change.

We plan to send a clear message to the politicians to take action.

Fix the Food Chain

We have been out in Stafford's market square collecting signatures on this latest campaign.

Factory farming demands massive amounts of soy - a key ingredient in animal feed. Most of this comes from huge soy plantations in Latin America.

Vast areas of land have to be cleared to grow the soy, causing:

* deforestation * greenhouse gas emissions * the loss of valuable wildlife habitat.
